NHP is a proud recipient of a Gold Department of Fire and Emergency Services Western Australia Volunteer Employer Recognition Award (VERA). The program acknowledges the important contribution made by employers and self-employed volunteers in the delivery of emergency services in Western Australia.
VERA encourages emergency service volunteers to nominate their employer for an award in recognition of the critical role they play in releasing staff at their own cost to respond to incidents or attend training to keep communities safe.
Gold, Silver or Bronze recognition is awarded depending on the employer contribution and takes into account factors including the impact on the day to day running of a business with a volunteer absent, promotion of emergency services volunteering, a commitment to community-friendly values and provision of material support in extenuating circumstances.
Qualified staff help protect and repair desperate communities impacted by fires, severe storms, cyclones, floods, earthquake, tsunamis and emergencies involving chemical, radiological and biological materials.
