Australia's first pole-mounted 50kW DC charger brings fast EV charging to the kerbside

05/11/2025

Australian innovation has taken another major leap toward electrified transport with the launch of the RapidPost 50, the nation’s first pole-mounted 50kW DC fast charger. Designed and assembled locally by NHP Electrical Engineering Products in collaboration with Delta Electronics and local distribution network service providers, it connects directly to existing street-power poles, eliminating the need for civil works or trenching while enabling fast, scalable kerbside charging.

Developed to make fast EV charging accessible to every Australian driver, the RapidPost 50 connects directly to existing power poles – removing the need for civil works, trenching or complex site approvals. This breakthrough enables faster, lower-cost and more scalable deployment of charging infrastructure in both remote and dense urban areas, where residents often lack off-street parking and access to EV chargers.

“This is a genuine game-changer for Australia’s EV landscape,” said Malcolm Noyle, National Business Development - EV Solutions, NHP. By reimagining how and where we deploy charging infrastructure, the RapidPost 50 brings fast, convenient charging to the kerbside. No digging, no drama, just clean energy where it’s needed the most.”

Built around the proven Delta 50kW DC charging platform, the RapidPost 50 delivers up to 50kW of fast DC charging to a single vehicle, or shared output between two EVs via CCS2 connectors. Its steel-cased, weather-hardened design, smart charging technology, and integrated credit card reader for easy pay-on-the-spot access make it ideal for public, commercial and municipal environments.

Unlike traditional fast-charging sites that require extensive construction and space, the RapidPost 50 simply mounts to or beside existing suitable power poles, significantly reducing installation time, cost and disruption to the community. This enables councils, utilities and private operators to expand public charging networks quickly and efficiently, supporting the next phase of Australia’s EV adoption and net-zero goals.

“By leveraging NHP’s local engineering and R&D expertise alongside Delta’s proven DC charging technology, we’ve created a solution that’s not only smart and sustainable, but built for Australian conditions,”  Noyle added. “It’s designed and assembled locally, and fully backed by NHP’s Total Care Package, offering complete technical support, commissioning and maintenance.”

The RapidPost 50 is available now across Australia through NHP, joining the company’s comprehensive EV charging range spanning AC destination chargers to high-capacity DC ultra-rapid solutions, all engineered to help businesses, councils and communities’ transition confidently to electric transport.
