NHP is proud to congratulate Ian Kennedy as the official winner of the Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award for 2006.

NHP announced the Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award at its opening of its new Brisbane office facility and official launch of Terasaki TemBreak2 mould case circuit breakers held on October 26th 2006.

NHP, together with Engineers Australia’s Electrical College, and the Electrical Energy Society of Australia, have sponsored the award in its second year. The award recognises individual excellence in the field of electrical power engineering within six years of graduation.

Ian Kennedy was a standout applicant for this year’s award. Successfully pursuing a career in the electrical industry since his graduation from the University of Wollongong in 2001, Ian has been a senior design engineer and lead engineer for TSU modelling since January 2002 and is employed by RailCorp NSW.

Nigel Peck, NHP founder and Amal Hanna Chair of Electrical Board of Engineers Australia presented the award.

“It is important to highlight and recognise excellence in the field of Electrical Power Engineering; this award encourages future development for young power engineers in the Australian and world market. NHP’s initiative in kicking off this award last year and their ongoing commitment, with the EESA and Engineers Australia, is highly commendable” said Amal during the presentation ceremony.

As winner of the award Ian will receive a trip to Germany in November next year, to attend the SPC/IPC/Drives electrical fair in Nuremberg, compliments of NHP. Also included in the trip will be visits to a number of major European electrical manufacturing plants.

By sponsoring such initiatives NHP continue to recognise the significant contributions young engineers have made in the initial few years after their graduation and understand the importance of promoting the field of electrical engineering.
