Investing In Industry

NHP is strongly committed to supporting Australasian industry, and in encouraging our youth to pursue a rewarding career in the electrotechnology sector. This commitment is reflected in NHP's sponsorship of a range of leading industry awards and in our affiliation with a variety of tertiary institutions across Australasia.

Engineers Australia Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award

NHP, in conjunction with Engineers Australia and Electrical Energy Society Australia, is a proud sponsor of the Engineers Australia Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award.

This annual award seeks to encourage young graduates to strive for a rewarding, long term career in Electrical Power Engineering. The award honours a professional engineer who has made significant contributions in the practice of Electrical Power Engineering and demonstrated individual contribution to the community. In acknowledgment to younger practitioners, these contributions will have been made during the preceding six years.

The winning candidate receives a framed certificate, an engraved medal, one year’s subscription to Engineers Australia and a trip to Europe complements of NHP to attend the IPC/SPC/Drives Fair in Nuremberg Germany with all expenses paid. Candidates will also visit major international electrical product manufacturers plants, where they will gain valuable insights into international power engineering.

NECA-NHP Apprentice of the Year Award - Industrial Sector of the Electrotechnical Industry

Each year, the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) and NHP search for an Industrial Electrical Apprentice of the Year, to acknowledge achievement in personal development for the apprentice in the Industrial Sector of the Electrotechnical Industry.

This award has been created by NECA with NHP to mark the contribution to the industry by Nigel Peck, founder of NHP. In comments about this award, Mr Peck expressed his wish that "it should firstly encourage Australia's youth to look to this industry for a career at the leading edge of technology, and secondly, to recognise achievement through enterprise, where the achievement is the result of effort and dedication".

As the winner of the NECA/NHP Apprentice Award, the apprentice will be NHP's guest at the Hannover Fair in Germany and will make site inspections and factory visits to leading Electrical Engineering Companies in Europe as part of their itinerary.
